The Leadership Council on Artificial Intelligence is guiding UGA’s efforts on:

  • making UGA a leader in interdisciplinary AI research and applications;
  • teaching and learning and policies related to the use of AI;
  • it’s investment in AI tenure track faculty hires and the tools and support they will need to be successful in generating grant funding; and
  • harnessing AI as a tool for administrative efficiency.

Council Membership

Members of the Leadership Council on AI serve staggered two-year terms with half of the membership rotating each year.

The council is chaired by UGA’s vice provost for academic affairs with support from the director of communications in the Office of the Provost.

Standing representatives are selected from the Office of Research, the Office of Instruction, the Center for Teaching and Learning, Enterprise Information Technology Services, University Libraries, and the Office of Public Service and Outreach.

Deans, or their designees, are selected based on the four broad areas of disciplines noted below:

  • Arts and Humanities (College of Environment and Design, Franklin College of Arts and Sciences)
  • Biomedical / Life Sciences (College of Veterinary Medicine, College of Pharmacy, School of Public Health)
  • Natural Sciences and Engineering (College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, School of Ecology, College of Engineering, Franklin College, Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources)
  • Social and Applied Sciences (College of Education, College of Family and Consumer Sciences, Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, School of Law, School of Public and International Affairs, School of Social Work, Terry College of Business)

Faculty are nominated by their deans and selected to represent the same four broad areas of disciplines, but they will not be from the same school or college from which a dean is serving.

Ad Hoc members may be invited by the council to serve on a temporary basis to inform the council’s discussions. These members may include students, staff, faculty, alumni or others as needed.
