This fall, the University of Georgia is expanding its student pilot program for premium AI tools, inviting additional students to participate and adding more platforms with access to new models. Participating students will receive access to premium licenses for Open AI’s ChatGPT Edu, Google’s Gemini Pro for Education, and, new this round, Microsoft 365 Copilot, which now offers access to multi-model intelligence with Anthropic’s Claude and OpenAI’s GPT.
UGA initially launched the pilot program in spring 2026 following ongoing discussions with the Student Government Association (SGA) and as part of the university’s broader commitment to preparing students for the workforce of tomorrow. The expanded pilot will provide more students with opportunities to explore leading AI tools and help inform the university’s continued evaluation of how these technologies can best support teaching, learning and student success.
Why Apply for a Student Premium AI License?
By participating, you will:
- Gain hands-on access to premium features to enhance your research, experiential learning, and productivity.
- Build in-demand AI fluency and digital skills that employers are actively seeking.
- Help shape the future of the student experience and how UGA invests in AI tools and technology.
How it Works
Licenses are limited. To ensure a fair and broad distribution across all degree levels and colleges, licenses will be assigned via an application process.
Register Your Interest: Sign up by September 11, 2026 (sign in required).
Choose Your Preference: You can indicate a preference for ChatGPT Edu, Gemini Pro for Education, or Microsoft 365 Copilot (which includes Claude and ChatGPT access) though final assignments will be balanced across schools, colleges, and departments by program administrators.
Get Notified: Selection results will be shared by the end of September.
Stay Engaged: To keep your license active through the 2026-2027 academic year, you will be required to actively use the license and complete a brief feedback survey at the end of each semester. Failure to complete these requirements will result in the license being revoked, to ensure that users are fully taking advantage of these valuable resources, so we ask all students to review them carefully before registering.
